OS Engineer - Tempe, AZ

Job Title: Operating Systems Engineer 4
Location: Tempe, AZ
Duration: 4-month contract (possibility of extension)

It will be a 4 month contract with the possibility of extending to 5 or 6 months (but really trying to get all the work done within 4 months)

Degree is not mandatory, equivalent experience with 5 years Solaris, Linux experience will work
Preferred scripting w/ Opsware
Preferred HP-UX and AIX

Provides expert technical support and consultation for operating systems. Conducts and coordinates the analysis, planning, and implementation of systems software and/or hardware. Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, debugs, maintains, modifies, and documents operating systems. Defines systems software and/or hardware requirements and determines system specifications and customizations. Participates in the design of subsystems and
integration of total systems. Identifies and resolves complex systems problems. May direct the work of less experienced staff.
Minimum Experience: 4 yr degree plus 5-7 yrs exp

Requested tasks include Bios/Firmware upgrades for 2000+ servers. Must be able to work independently and as a group. Will be required to do research and provide status reports before and during the upgrade processes. Communication & planning Skills are key to getting this project properly executed.

Hardware knowledge on SUN spark servers, HP, Fujitsu, Dell, IBM, & Egenera blades.

OS knowledge required for Solaris 8/10 & Linux RHEL 4/5. HP-UX and AIX are also a plus.

Other skills, but not required: Scripting abilities, Opsware knowledge

SAN Architect opportunity- Northbrook, IL

Client is look for SAN SME including zoning, LUN security, and HBA configuration. Consultant must have a solid understanding of SAN and NAS storage technologies and protocols. Consultant must also have SME in enterprise backup and data protection technologies

Requirement:
1. Must have 3-5 yrs architecting, installing, configuring, and maintenance of clients multiple processing, storage, and data protection platforms/resources such as:
a. UNIX/Sun,
b. Sun/STK tape systems
c. HDS Storage,
d. NetApp NAS,
e. Brocade SAN Switches,
f. Symantec/VERITAS Net Backup. .
2. Must be able to analyze requirements for impact on storage infrastructure.
a. Disk space
b. Data backup & recovery
c. Disaster recovery (assist with local testing)
d. Monitoring storage infrastructure logs
3. Must be able to Architect & Design/create storage solution.
a. Implement ‘best practice’ file systems management
b. Implement ‘best practice’ or defined Customer security policies
c. Translate requirements into storage and data protection tasks and documentation.
d. Create change order for execution of tasks by storage administrators.
4. Excellent personal and written communication skills
5. Ability to effectively manage relationships with other infrastructure teams, application teams and client representatives
6. Organizational skills with attention to task details, documentation and target dates
